Welcome Back! September 2020 and lessons during Covid-19

For many (maybe even all…) students it’s been an unusual summer, and a tumultuous year. Fortunately, here at Lessons with Sarah, we’ve been maintaining good rapport with students through online/virtual lessons, as well as in-person lessons with safety precautions since July.

September 2020 in many ways looks very different from September 2019, but there are also some similarities we can take comfort in. Lessons will be available at my home studio in Vancouver from September 1st onwards, and for anyone wishing to continue to keep their bubbles small, online lessons will continued to be an option for the foreseeable future.

For those eager to return to in-person lessons, please note that I do ask that students wash their hands before their lesson time, and that face masks or face shields are worn for as long as possible during the lesson (unless playing trumpet). On my behalf, I will wear a face mask for all lessons, in my home, or at call-out lessons, and I will sanitize my piano at the start and end of lesson days.

Although most contact between myself and students is between 30-60 minutes once a week, the best way to minimize the risk of transmission of Covid-19 (or any other seasonal colds or flu for that matter) is simply to wash our hands, sanitize our pianos/high touch surfaces, wear face masks/sheilds, and also to avoid coming to lessons if coughing/sick.

Finally, let me take the time to thank all parents and students for their continued flexibility and adaption as we learn to live life, and keep making music, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. I look forward to the music this year will bring.

Ms. Sarah
